Harry, I took the following off the JFWlight, helpful hints page:
1. Bring up the system tray dialog with insert f11.
2. Arrow down the listview until you reach real player and hit enter.
3. It will bring up a context menu, arrow down to preferences and hit enter.
4. A dialog will come up of the real player preferences, make sure you are
on the general page.
5. Tab until you reach the second settings button and hit enter. This is
the one for the start center. If you want to verify it, when you reach the
second settings button, route jaws to pc and arrow up a few times. Then
switch back to pc and tab to the settings button. Hit enter on the
settings button.
6. You are now placed within the "Start Center" settings page. Tab to the
enable start center checkbox and uncheck it with the space bar.
7. Real player will bring up a confirmation page that will ask if you are
sure you want to disable start center. Tab to the yes button and hit enter.
8. You will be back on the enable start center page, tab to okay and hit
enter.
9. Now you are back on the preferences page, tab to okay and hit enter.
10. You will then be back in the real player window.

Subject: can anyone tell me how to do what my friend is talking about, st

Hi folks,
Harry here with a question.
I mentioned real player taking over my computer yesterday, and I also
emailed another
friend of myne, and below are his comments.
Can someone tell me step by step using key strokes how to do this? How do I
get
to the system tray to take care of this problem?
Harry
Harry,

Real Player of all versions loads a module in the system tray at every
startup. Kevin needs to disable this feature. It takes 1.5 Megabytes of
your RAM right off the top of the system resources, and really hurts system
performance. If he right clicks on the real player icon in the system tray
and goes through the menus of the properties, he can choose to disable the
system tray portion and not load Real Player on every boot. The result
will be that your system will run just as it used to, and Real Player will
still work, but will take about 40 seconds to come up when you choose to run
a real player type media.
Mike
