It occurred to me while reading my "other" post this morning
(same subject) I left out some "obvious" points...

    Use static precautions...
    Only have one video card in the system at a time...
    Change the drivers back and forth as necessary.
    Turn off computer when working on it, then re-start...
    Check your monitor type, and make sure it is correct.

Seems like "basic" points to bring up, but in the interests
of safety thought I should "fill out" my answer a little...
