I'm working on a Packard Bell 350CD with a Cirrus Logic 5434 PCI video
adapter. The monitor is a Multiscan Model #C5081LD (manufactured 12/97 in
Malaysia).
Thanks to assistance from the kind people on this list I have managed to
get to a point where Windows 98 is installed, my CD-ROM works, the sound
card works, and there are no exclamation marks in Device Manager.
Unfortunately the Multiscan monitor is not giving me the colors I would
expect from the default Windows 98 color scheme. Instead of getting the
characteristic light blue Windows 98 background I am getting dark green.
Changing the brightness setting doesn't help. The colors are crisp, but not
correct. There are no color controls on the outside of the monitor.
I can't seem to find out much about the monitor on the Internet. I was
wondering if possibly it wasn't a VGA type monitor, or if it an old Apple
monitor, and that might explain why I am getting this dark green background
color. If so, could I use another driver for my display adapter to make the
monitor work properly?
For a check on the computer, I replaced the monitor with a Compaq monitor
that I had, and it worked fine; gave me all the right colors.
Thanks again for your assistance.
