In response to today's post concerning grain sensitivity  when eating poultry
- I would suggest you try to find naturally raised guinea hen.  I am ordering
some for us this year, in addition to the 100 chickens I usually raise.
Guinea hen can survive on no grain, preferring to eat ticks, flies,
mosquitoes and worms.  The trick is to catch them when slaughter time
arrives, as they like to roost in the trees!

Now, as for fiber, I recently purchased the Eades' Protein Power Gram
Counter.  Its a handy little book, and it helps me keep track of calories,
fiber, etc.  One thing I keep coming back to is the seemingly enormous amount
of fiber contained gram for gram in beans and legumes.  Its seems that one
could easily ingest 60 grams of fiber per day (isn't that near the quantity
of daily fiber eaten by most hunter gatherers?) by including a cup of beans
in one's daily fare.  Otherwise, unless I'm missing the math, it would take
quite a bit of calories to add up to 50 grams of fiber daily.  I don't think
the government recommendation of 25 grams per day is close to the actual
intake of !Kung bushman, for example.....

Any thoughts as to how to get 50-60 grams of fiber without having to
overshoot one's limit  of fat or calories? I've already added 1-2 TB of
psyllium husks (5 grams per TB insoluble fiber) daily, but its not really
very much fun....
