Gala,
One possibility is that what you are smelling is the plastic bottle that the
pills may be packed in. (Unless, of course it is a glass bottle) I used to
work as a pharmacy technician, and I recall certain medications that emitted
a very objectionable odor when the bottle was opened. The smell was related
to the plastic bottle being exposed to heat during the sealing process.
Check your plastic bottles, if there is a "3" on the bottom, then the
plastic is PVC, which contains lead, chlorine and a host of other toxic
things. If there is no number stamped on the bottom, that doesn't rule out
the chance that it's PVC.
