Well, I can offer another terribly simplistic theory about bones, then. The
weight forces the bones to flex a tiny bit, and the body adapts to the
stress by making them denser and more resistant. Do not bones become
increasingly dense with maturity, until "aging" starts eating them away?
Given adequate nutrition, perhaps they just keep on getting stronger with
use. Animal bones are denser in older animals...
