Hello group,
Can anybody recommend something to prevent muscle cramps? For about
three weeks now I have been experiencing excruciating muscle cramps in my
legs (quadriceps and gastrocnemeous muscles). Sometimes it is so bad I can
not walk at all. I saw the doctor and my electrolytes tested okay. Although
I have an atrocious diet, I take vitamin and mineral supplements regularly.
After the first incident I also started supplementing with potassium and
magnesium citrate.
My muscles are constantly sore and I always feel fatigued. Could this
be a precursor to another celiac-related disease, or is it part of being GF?
A little background: I am a 43 year-old male, formerly fit and athletic (too
painful to exercise now). I have been GF for three years, and cassein-free
for about one year. My GI problems resolved quickly after going GF, but the
fatigue only improved slightly. Movement, especially walking, is painful due
to the sore muscles. I also experience occasional muscle twitching.
Have any of you had the same problem? Any suggestions on what I should do to
prevent or treat these cramps? Thank you for all your support.
Jim S
