Hi listmates, I know I'm supposed to reply to sender, but it doesn't
make sense in this case. I've been on the list a few weeks now and have
learned a lot. My family doctor and I suspect I have CD but I have to
wait until mid-January for my first appointment with a specialist. In
the meantime I'm learning as much as I can about the disease. I think
Connie makes a valid point when she says the media needs to pay more
attention and I'd like to make an offer. I'm a freelance writer, and I
have a tendency to write about the things that strike close to home.
I've already planned to propose an article on CD to a local parenting
magazine, but I'm always willing to cover a story from a variety of
angles for a variety of publications. Since I'm freelance, I can never
guarantee that editors will go for the story ideas I propose, but that's
the nature of the biz. We keep on plugging away and eventually, we hope,
someone bites. If anyone wants to share their CD stories with me I'm
more than willing to listen. I couldn't give you an immediate idea of
when or where a resultant article would be published, but I *would* keep
in touch with each individual and let you know what I planned to do with
the info. Also, any information I use would be verified with you again
before I submitted it for publication. (I'm kind of a stickler for
accuracy ;-) If you prefer, you could just give me a cyber-wave and I'll
add your name to a file as a possible future "source" and do a follow-up
email interview later when I have a more concrete idea of the potential article.

Oh, here's an abbreviated online "resume" if you'd like to see some of my work:

Here's to a cooperative campaign of awareness!

Best wishes,
Karen
