I use Window-Eyes, and subscribe to EarthLink. I find that a dedicated
e-mail client, such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora or PM Mail is much
more efficient than a web-based e-mail interface. Having said that, it is
useful to know how to use a web interface for those occasions when you are
not at your own PC and want to check and occasionally reply to what has
come in.
EarthLink has two web mail interfaces. The newer one is technically in
beta mode, but I hope it doesn't become the only one available. It relies
heavily on JavaScript, and perhaps could be classified as an example of
AJAX programming. It supports drag-and-drop and other mouse operations,
but I haven't found ways of reading it correctly in the MSAA (virtual
cursor) buffer. If the interface of your mail site referenced below is
anything like EarthLink's newer offering, I wouldn't be surprised if
students have trouble with it.
