POSITION DESCRIPTION:


JOB TITLE:              Web Accessibility Consultant
LEVEL:          Administrative Staff - Level 3 or Level 2, depending on
experience
TEAM:           Adaptive Technology Lab (ATIC)
TEAM LEADER:    Kathy Cahill
DEPARTMENT:     Information Systems Department

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Assist MIT clients on web accessibility coding issues
through consultation, diagnosis and resolution.  Develop coding solutions
for common web accessibility problems, and develop accessible examples and
templates for authoring tools as needed.  Educate the MIT community with
web accessibility seminars and outreach.   Participate in defining best
practices in web accessibility at MIT.  Participate in standards groups and
professional groups.

REQUIREMENTS:
*       Previous experience in designing for web accessibility, as well as
knowledge of accessibility guidelines and standards.
*       Demonstrated experience with HTML coding and publishing software,
as well as with PC and Mac file and media formats.
*       Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
*       Customer service orientation.
*       Bachelor's degree or the equivalent combination of education and
experience.
*       Unix/Athena experience a plus.


COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: This is a half-time (20 hrs/wk) position, with a
salary of $25-$30K depending on skills and experience. Excellent benefits.
