My suggestion would be to make sure the cable is secured, the jumpers
are correct and I would boot using the floppy drive and floppy. When you
get to the DOS prompt, do a fdisk, reboot and then format the drive.
This may be the reason you get the "invalid drive specification" error.

Your system information has to be on the drive in order for it to be
recognized and work properly.
