Hi. I'm wondering if anyone can give me any suggestions re a problem I'm
having with Open Book. I'm running Open Book Ruby edition version 4.01
with JFW 3.7. Recently, I've begun to get the message "scanning failed"
right before a page is about to be processed. I don't think the problem is
with my scanner, which is a 4P, but rather maybe with HP AccuPage, which
also opens when I run Ruby. It doesn't happen all the time, but it even
did a few weeks ago after rebooting my computer and turning on my scanner
again. I called Freedom Scientific about it, and they had me remove
pix*.dll files, or something relating to pix files. They also told me that
I have too many programs running at startup and to disable some of them,
which I did do. The scanner worked for a bit more after that, but then the
problem started again. I defragged my hard drive, and the scanner worked
again for a bit, but now it's giving me the same problem again. It appears
that I can use the document feeder even when I can't use the flatbed, which
seems strange to me. I'm really becoming frustrated by this, as I greatly
depend on my scanner. I'd appreciate any info any of you can give
me. Thanks in advance.
Rachel
