Workshop on EATING DISORDERS: ANOREXIA AND BULIMIA

Workshop leaders: Geraldine Shipton and Em Farrell

2 day workshop: Saturday, 1st and Saturday 8th July, 2000
10.30 a.m. - 4.30 p.m.

Geraldine Shipton will discuss some of the unconscious fantasies
involved in anorexia: this will include case discussions and workshop
members are invited to present clinical material on the first of the
two days.
During day two, Em Farrell will look at a number of the different
theoretical understandings of bulimia with a particular focus on the
use and misuse of transitional objects and transitional space both
internally and in the therapeutic relationship. For psychodynamic and
psychoanalytic practitioners.

Geraldine Shipton: is in private practice as a psychoanalytic
psychotherapist and lectures at the Centre for Psychotherapeutic
Studies where she is also Head of Department. She has a long standing
interest in Eating Disorders.

Em Farrell: is a psychotherapist who works in private practice and as
a tutor at the School of Psychotherapy and Counselling, Regent's
College. She is Director of 'Feeding Your Child' Workshops and
Co-Director of the Free Associations Education Programme. She is the
author of 'Lost for Words: The Psychoanalysis of Anorexia and
Bulimia', [Process Press 1995] and is working on her next book
'Eating: Understanding Your Relationship to Food'.

Course Fees:  110 British pounds sterling (BPS)  self-funded, 130 BPS
employer-sponsored. Booking deadline June 23rd.

Employer funded: please send cheque with application. If you are
concerned about reserving a place, but the cheque may be delayed,
then please ask your employer to confirm in writing that they will
pay for you and we can reserve a place on this basis. Employer
sponsored cheques then need to be paid in full by June 23rd.

Fee: 110 British pounds sterling (BPS) self-funded: 130 BPS employer funded.
20 pounds of which is non returnable in case of cancellation prior to
June 1st. Cancellations after 23rd June, the University reserves the
right to keep the full fee. Lunch and refreshments included in fee.
