Neal. You don't mention the type of Hard Drive. If you check out the
manufacturers website you may find a tool you could use to test the drive.
I'm not sure that you could recover the data, but there may be a tool you
could use to recover the drive. Then again maybe not. There's another thread
on the list currently for recommendations of drives. I have stuck to WD in
the past because of the tools on their website. It doesn't matter anymore as
most manufacturers have similar tools nowadays.
