You should check for viruses for there always being the possibility of a virus attack. I had mysterious problems before on my AMD K6-2 450 mhz, 128MB RAM with
Windows 98 SE before. I believe I was doing nothing and letting it sit there or just doing my business and after I rebooted or I rebooted because of a Windows crash I saw that error occur and right after I saw that message, I saw my Windows folder missing for no apperent reason and another time, I saw my desktop icons disappear and Windows 98 display the message "C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs" "The folder is unaccessible the folder may have been renamed or removed"
and immediately crashed. And when I rebotted, the Windows folder was missing again!!! And probably the time before the second incident, I believe I ran ScanDisk afterwards for the heck of it and ScanDisk found lots of file system errors. My file system was trashed for no apperent reason!!! And with anti-virus software afterwards, no viruses were reported or even the possibility of one!!!
