Hi, we had exactly the same thing happen to our son at college and your
guess is right, his power supply was bad. He was running an athlon 600, and
we had a 250 watt power supply in it, we went to a 300 watt when we replaced
it and it has been running fine. We were so afraid that it was something
more serious, but we had the power supply checked for 10.00 and that was the
problem. Hope this helps.
