Sarah, there is a possibility that your baby is gaining weight without
adding excess weight to you. When I was pregnant with my son (1972), I
developed toxemia. I only gained the (then) recommended 20 pounds. With my
second pregnancy, I was on a very restricted diet to help prevent toxemia.
The scales showed a gain of 9.5 pounds the night before the C-Section
delivery of my daughter (1974). I actually was losing weight while she was
gaining...I weighed 5 pounds less the day after her birth than I did before
I got pregnant. Although my diet was SAD for the most part, I did eat more
protein, especially organ meats, during both pregnancies. Both children were
delivered by C-section due to my bone structure. They were both delivered
approximately 3 weeks before the due date. With my son, they didn't want to
risk my going into labor. He weighed almost 6.5 pounds and his younger
sister was 5 pounds 10 ounces. Both were healthy!

Best wishes for an easy delivery!!

Betty Ann

Hi there

I am Sarah from the UK, I was recommended this list by someone on the celiac
list.

My question is about weight gain. I am 40 weeks pregnant, was due on 14th
April and I have only put on 9 lb in weight.

Sarah
