Anybody have information on the energy requirements for digestion of
different foods? I made the mistake of eating too much carbo the other day
(it was a quesadilla), and I noticed that I felt slightly faint afterwards. I
presume this is caused by blood being diverted from the brain to the stomach
for digestion. I have only recently been able to detect this, and it is a
result of overall low carbo consumption.
My energy levels are generally much higher than they used to be, so any
reduction is noticeable. This seems to illustrate that excess carbo
consumption causes torpidity because of the large amount of energy required
to digest it.
Does anyone have any figures on this?
