I have a four-year-old son who is allergic to dairy. I'm taking him to the
doctor for his yearly checkup, and just found out that he gets the
Measles-Mumps_Rubella shot this time.
I remember at 16 months when he got the first one, he got a bright red rash
the day after the shot. Not a raised rash, just more like he sat under a
tanning bed for way too long! Circumstances at the 16-month shot were
strange in that he was also taking Amoxicillin at the time (in hindsight,
he probably shouldn't have had the shot while he was ill). The doctor
blamed the rash on the Amox, and pronounced him allergic to it.
I know I was asked if he was allergic to eggs before the shot was given.
Does anyone have any experience that a dairy-allergic person reacts to an
MMR shot? I'm a little nervous about giving him this shot again. Thanks.
