Here's what I wrote:
Dear Mr. Bush,
April 4, 2001
My name is Cynthia Curtis. I am a 30 year old woman who has Cerebral
palsy. Cerebral palsy is a disability which affects your fine motor
skills. Due to my disability, I need to use a electric wheelchair. I am
a very active person, so my wheelchair gets a lot of use. I have had my
wheelchair for 5 years and it is starting to break down. I live on my
own, so my mobility is vitally important. I have submitted my request to
Medi-Cal via United Cerebral Palsy (serving Los Angeles and Ventura
Counties). The process of approval from Medi-Cal usually takes a year or
longer. This year long process is not right. Most disabled people only
ask for what they need. I do not mean to sound bitter because I am not.
I just do not think it is fair to make people wait when they really need
something. What are you going to do about this?
Sincerely,
Cynthia Curtis
