Visited Federal Reserve on Maiden lane last night, after dinner at John
Ballato's. The cleaning of the anciently blackened stone blocks is now
almost complete - only a high section facing Maiden Lane remains to be done.
The deeply cut rustication of the Ohio sandstone walls now "matches" the
sparkling lightness of SOM's Chase Manhattan and other nearby buildings (some
of which are old, and have also been cleaned.)
At ground level, the cleaned (and apparently completed) sections exhibit
heavy streaking, blotches and other marks. Not as bad as the worst patches
of R.... W....'s NYAC, but still quite noticeable.
Any other observations?
