In the meantime, as I believe I reported previously in this space, my arch'l
history teacher,  the vastly underappreciated Marcus Whiffen, told us that
St. Paul's was saved during the Blitz by the Architectural Historians, who
ran around throwing bombs and similar building-unfriendly devices and their
byproducts off the roof.
