This is most often caused by mismatched ram in a pc or an AMD
processor of the K2 vintage. The easiest way to solve this
for the duration of installing Windows is to enter your CMOS settings
of the Bios and disable L2 cache on your CPU. Then once you
have installed Windows, you can turn this back on.
