  So it sounds like you're overdue for a clean install. I'd forget about
just running the archaic switch /MBR and just run the full FDISK and delete
your partitions totally and then rebuild them to your liking. Set the active
partition to your boot drive. Then reformat each partition and reinstall
Windows and applications, then restore your data.
