The deficiency in modern meat exists only in grain-fed animals. Grass-fed
and true foraging animals are low in omega-6 fatty acids and richer in
omega-3 fatty acids.

In a study done in a couple of years ago at a university in Canada, cattle
fed grain for 120 days had omega-6 to omega-3 ratios of 11:1. Forage-fed
cattle had omega-6 to omega-3 ratios of 3:1 (ideal ratios of 6's:3's would
be in the range of 4:1 to 1:1). Numerous studies have shown that the longer
cattle are fed grain, the greater the fatty acid imbalance. After 200 days,
grain-fed cattle have omega-6 to omega-3 ratios of over 20:1.
