Thank you for posting this link.  So does this mean I should stop eating
meat?  Would it matter now, anyways?

I am quite concerned about mad cow disease.  I read several years ago in
Newsweek an article by a man who put the estimate of people infected in the
next 20 years will be closer to double that.  And deaths will far outnumber
even those of AIDS.

This is a very important topic to this list because it infects our
paleolithic lifestyle in everyway.  If we were an organized group, we would
have no choice but to form a committee to come up with some policy regarding
the consumption of these meats immediately.  I wish I had more knowledge on
the subject to share with listers.  I don't think this is some kind of
"scare" to boast the beef industry sales.  I look forward to much greater
discussion on the matter here in the future.

So far, 80 people have died here from this terrible disease, and the latest
study suggests that the final toll could be 120,000.  I long ago stopped
eating
any beef products.
