Carmen,

My daughter had eczema (open wounds and all) for 4 years. I was told she
would always live with it and all we could do is give her cortisone and
Lac-Hydrin. As usual, the doctors were wrong. We took her off wheat and
milk and the eczema went away. When we put her on flax oil (internally, not
externally), her excessively dry skin became soft and smooth. We do violate
the dry skin of taboos--my daughter loves to bathe and we don't use any
creams either--and her skin stays supple. What they fail to understand is
that her problem was caused by internal factors, not external.

On the allergy front, Pamela has immediate allergies to peanuts (precursor
signs to anaphylaxis). She does not tolerate large amounts of apples and
it's a delayed reaction (night sweats, insomnia, nausea, etc). She is
autistic and some autistic children do extremely well off gluten (wheat and
friends) and casein (milk), not really due to allergies. However, based on
the improvement of her skin, I suspect she also delayed allergies too.
