Hello, I am new to this List and wanted to just introduce myself and ask
a few questions. My name is Melinda and I live in Maryland. I am the
Mom of two toddlers, a 24 mo. old little boy and a 27 mo. old little
girl. Both were adopted from Eastern Europe and are doing very well.

The reason I've subscribed to this List is because I'm interested in
modifying their diets and am starting with removing dairy products.
While neither of my children have been specifically diagnosed with any
medical condition that warrants such a change, they do have a few
"issues" which my husband and I believe could be aggravated by dairy.
Neither of my children eat refined sugar or drink juice but do love fresh
fruit. They both love milk, yogurt and cheese and I am currently giving
them organic versions.

I have been looking at different soy milk products in the supermarket and
have not found anything that isn't flavored and loaded with sugar. I've
been looking at powdered versions and they seem to have lots of fillers.

Question #1: What is a good soy/rice milk product that is calcium and
vitamin fortified that I could switch my children to?

Question #2: What recommendations do you have for replacing
cheese/yogurt/ice cream in their diet?

Any other information on foods that are/aren't milk free, recipes and
tips would be greatly appreciated.

I am so glad that I found this forum and look forward to hearing from you
"experts" out there. Thanks so much in advance.

Regards

Melinda
