Hello all,
After suffering chronic diarreah for 6 months, and after numerous trips to
the internist to no affect (including a colonoscopy), my husband decided to
eat a GF LF diet. He has been doing this for about 2 months, and has
experienced a vast improvement overall. However, after observing the diet
strictly for this time, he accidently ingested a mouthful of cream of wheat
cereal, having mistaken it for leftover mashed potatoes. About an hour
later, he experienced pain, cramping and diarreah again, which has lasted
about 2 days now. We expected this to happen, and were actually sort of
perversely glad, because it confirms what we suspected all along about the
cause of his problem. Anyway, my question is this..... If one goes GF for
period of time, and experiences an improvement, will the accidental
ingestion of such a small amount of gluten cause the awful symptoms to come
back with such a vengence? Is this a typical experience others have had?
Thank you so much. This list has been such a tremendous encouragement to
us. Linda S.
