We recently vacationed in St. Croix, and were planning to have dinner one
evening at a local eating place called Cheeseburgers in Paradise.
Luckily I had been browsing in a store earlier in the day while my daughters
shopped. I picked up a local cookbook and I saw a recipe for Paradise
Cheeseburgers that contained several added ingredients INCLUDING bread
crumbs. When I questioned them at the restaurant, the waitress told us that
their burgers did indeed have bread crumbs in them. My celiac husband
special-ordered a 100% beef cheeseburger and averted a gluten accident!
My daughters and I ordered the cheeseburgers off the menu, and they were
great -- tasted just like good, juicy cheeseburgers. I would have never
guessed that they contained bread crumbs.
So, you may want to check when you order hamburgers from any restaurant.
