Hello Group -

I am looking for advice regarding adaptive aids from any of you who working
a large office environment. I am an Admin. Ass't. with RP, employed by a
large corporation in a manufacturing facility that is techno-challenged.
For example, Windows 95 is on all computers with the exception of mine; that
leased Compaq was upgraded to 98 in order to run Zoom Text Xtra Level 2.
There
are no computer support personnel working in this section of the plant. I
have an old, but excellent CCTV. Aside from these two items, a hand-held
magnifier at 6X is just about all I could think of to use so far. I'm not
sure if anything could really help my speed/performance at this point in
time. My supervisor recently asked if there was anything else I needed, and
I'm almost certain it is not due to caring for my well-being, but because it
will be my last opportunity to improve my efficiency. It is taking me much
longer to complete jobs than it once did and it may be time for me to leave
my job.

Tasks are general office copier, fax, printer use and maintenance, ordering
of office supplies, word processing, answering phones, filing, email,
bulletin board postings, reception, lunch catering - all pretty routine
stuff - but becoming more tedious and time-consuming day by day. If anyone
can tell me what their most useful assistive device has been aside from a
secretary, I would certainly be grateful for the "tip".

Thanks so much,
Bonnie C.
