Jim passes on this review of the free e-mail from hotmail. I have used
http://netaddress.usa.net to establish an account and found it difficult.
www.bigfoot.com and www.yahoo.com are just of many sites which provide
similar services.

Subject: Net: Hotmail (web based email) review.
Web based email is free and can be accessed from library computers.
The web based email webpage/ email program which I am using to compose
this message is called Hotmail. Hotmail is speechfriendly as far as I
can tell. It is not necessary to use the JAWS for Windows reformat
webpage features to use Hotmail.
The difference betwene Hotmail Udora and Pine is that traditional email
programs can handle large adressbooks and large file attachments.
Web based email is free because there is a form which you fill out to
sign up which can help a web based email company to market its product
to advertizers. These advertisements appear at the end of a message that
you send.
In brief, web based email is fine for communicating with family
and friends as well as subscribing to an email list or two. However you
most likely would not want to dump your Internet provider for web based
email.
If you are fortunate enough to live in a city in which libraries provide
some assistive technology access to the Internet than web based email
such as www.hotmail.com would be fine, especially for those who do not have a
computer at home or school.
