I know it may seem completely grim and heartless, but I see "childhood
diseases" as nature's way of keeping the population in check. Survival of
the fittest. Of course no one wants to even think about their child's
mortality so we try and gain comfort in "knowing" that our vax'd children
are "protected" from these diseases. Our culture sees death as the ultimate
loss.
I am not seeking to challenge anyone's feelings about death and loss, just
making the observation that disease does serve a purpose on this planet.
