Yes - well said. Amazingly few people equate "I am allergic to..."  with "I
will die if I eat..."

They don't know how they'd feel if they were partially (or completely)
responsible.

Being very concrete about the ramifications of getting it wrong (or lazily
saying "I don't think it has any milk") is the best way to minimize the
chances of a catastrophic outcome.
