Hi list,

Wow, one day, and I have over 25 responses to my inquiry already.

The general consensus of opinion is that brown sugar MAY contain caramel
coloring dreived from a non-GF source (Wheat or barley). Most brown sugars
in the US are made with molasses as a coloring agent and are OK.

Several people listed C & H, Domino, and Great Value as trusted brands.
Also mentioned was the fact that light brown sugar was preferred over dark
brown sugar.

A few poeple requested the address for the CSA/USA commercial foods list. It
is: CSA/USA, P.O. Box 31700, Omaha, NE, 68131-0700. The cost is $8. The
phone nmber is 402-558-0600. The restaurant card is a part of the foods
list packet.

There were also several responses suggesting that CSA/USA was over sensitive
(putting it mildly) to the suggestion of potential problems with food
products. As a result, there are items on the commercial foods list from
CSA/USA which may well be safe, but are listed as hazardous.

Finally, the old addage, check the label, check with the manufacturer, was
repeated. And I shall.

Thanks to all of you that responded. Please accept this post as my
individual thanks to all of you.
