Hi everybody!

Yesterday night, I installed a few software programs on my
computer which was running fine (I made a clean install about 1
month ago), but when I was asked to reboot my system - which I
did - it came up with a Blue Screen and EVERY time I tried to
reboot my system I got this *!%$* BSOD (Safe Mode, Normal Mode -
I even tried to REINSTALL Windows over the existing system).

Could my registry be under all this? I believe I got a backup of
my registry under the C:\Windows\Desktop subfolder, since I
always back up important data (and my HD doesn't seem to be
corrupted)... but I didn't have the time to check, since I had to
sleep a few hours before going back to work this morning.

My system runs (ran? hehe!) on Windows 98 SE which was "clean
installed" about 1 month ago. I've got a Celeron 466, 128Mb of
RAM on an ABit BH6 motherboard... (but I don't believe hardware
info is relevant at this point - tell me if I'm wrong, I'll
supply additional info).

Has anybody experienced something similar? The BSOD appears
right after the mouse pointer appears on a black screen (just
before showing up the background picture and the icons). I've
been working over 12 years with PCs, but this is the first time I
see something like this.

Thank you very much for your help!
