Greetings,
I have just finished performing a clean install of Win98SE on a friend's
machine. All is well, except that when shutting down, the screens that read
"Windows is shutting down" and "It is now safe to shut off your computer"
are not displayed. The operating system shuts down without hesitation, as
does the hard drive, but the display goes to a mostly green color,
consisting of fine, wavy lines. I have applied the patch from Micro$oft
relating to shutdown issues in 98SE. System specs are:
FIC VA-503+, BIOS flashed to latest version
K6-2 333 MHz processor
AT power supply
256MB
Virge S3 DX/GX PCI video
WD 40GB HDD
SB16
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
TIA,
George
