Dear Friends,
If you haven't already sent me you're disABILITY life story,
please do. BUT REMEMBER THAT WITHOUT A SIGNED PAPER COPY OF IT,
I CANNOT USE IT IN MY BOOK. So read on.
As you know, I have had 5 books published. You can find them at
http://idt.net/~mauro/books.html, amazon.com and bn.com.
I'm now editing a new book called LIFE STORIES OF disABILITY. If
you have a disABILITY life story you'd like to have possibly
appear in my book, read on.
If you'd like to send me your disABILITY life story, it must be
kept to under 1000 words. If it has the power to educate and
move a reader, it could end up in my new book.
When you write your life story, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE focus on
only ONE area of your life that greatly effected you, i.e., a
life-changing event. This could involve a sexual relationship,
your career, your education, an experience you had with
discrimination, finding a place to live, your experience with
living in an institution or a nursing home or finally getting out
of one of them, finding an aide (PCA), how you became disabled,
how your family and friends have or have not helped you, dealing
with dying. AND HOW YOU HAVE SURVIVED OR ARE TRYING TO.
I think this book could truly enlighten many people -- especially
the nondisabled. Moreover, it could help other men, women and
children with disabilities.
I cannot promise that your disABILITY life story will end up in
my book or that the book will even be published. But our
disABILITY life stories are extremely important. And I will work
hard to collect our disABILITY life stories and to get this book
published.
Also, I cannot pay anyone. I will be shopping around for a
publisher and doing all the work on this book myself as far as
editing, etc. It could be several years before it gets
published, if it even does. But if it does get published, I will
direct the publisher to give 10% of the profits to a local
charity, which helps people with disabilities.
IMPORTANT: If you decide to send me your life story, you'll need
to do two things:
1. E-mail your disABILITY life story to me at [log in to unmask]
