Greetings All,

Mag, ask someone to get you some oil of clove; either at the pharmacy or
at the health food store. Apply that to the mouth sores. It will
anaesthetize the gums and promote healing. Also, boost up your Vit C.

If you don't already, you might consider using the Sonicare toothbrush -
sonic waves. It blows plaque off the teeth big time. I've been using it for
2 years. Prior to that I used a regular electric toothbrush. There's no
comparison. I use PLAX dental rinse, and put a bit in my mouth, along with
toothpaste on the brush. Toofies are nice and white and plaque free :)

I haven't been to the dentist in years. The last time, in 1990, I had 3
fillings, done by a superior dentist (retired military). This guy got the 3
fillings done in the same time it took my former dentist (an idiot) to do
one filling. He interviewed me on the very day he did the work; no second
appointment. He figured he wouldn't see me again, so he gave me a Valium,
waited 20 minutes, plunked me in the chair, and had at me :)

  I chatted with his son some time ago and he is in partnership with him;
this fellow has hospital privileges and has worked on lots of children and
adults with cp, so I figure when the time comes, I'll go to him. Given my
new status with the heart condition and the need to take antibiotics
pre-dental work, he's prepared to arrange to have me treated under full
anaesthesia at the hospital, for cleaning, x-rays, and do any filling that
is required - one stop shop! :)

There's a link on my web site about the toothbrush - Toothily Yours - also
on that link is reference to another site about dentistry for special needs
populations. Don't know if they've updated it recently or not.

Cheers!

Carla
