That was Don's post, not mine, but FYI: Animal sources of true vitamin A
are superior to vegetable sources because you don't have to convert the
animal source pro-vit. A to to real/active vitamin A. This is not to say
that you shouldn't eat betacarotene rich veggies and fruits (we eat a lot of
them), only that they should not be called sources of Vit. A since the
converstion rate may be low, particularly in the absense of fat, and
diabetics and those who low thyroid function cannot make the converstion.
Most books and magazine sources innacurately say that foods rich in
betacarotene are rich in "vitamin A," a misnomer.
