Tuesday September 17: Professor Daniel Kunene, African Languages &
Literature, will interview Mukoma Ngugi, a graduate student in the
Department, about his poetry, on the WORT program "Radio
Literature." 7-7:30 pm at 89.9 FM .
Wednesday, September 18th. African Studies Sandwich Seminar, 206 Ingraham

Women’s Studies, UW-Madison. Women in Movement: Transformations in
African Political Landscapes
Friday, September 20th. Memorial Library (Check Lobby Sign for Room
Number) 1:00 - 2:30 pm Emilie Ngo Nguidjol will present Francophone
Studies I: Finding Books and Journal Articles for Your Research. This
workshop explores the various search options in MadCat for books, and in
licensed databases for journal articles. It also offers tips, strategies
and troubleshooting techniques for finding materials on your research
topic. You will learn how to create an effective search strategy, how to
improve your results, and what to do if the full article is not included.
Space is limited. Hands-on practice included.

The Preliminary Program for the African Studies Association 45th Annual
Meeting is now available in the ASA News 35.3 and on the ASA web site at ..
The final version of the program will be distributed at the Annual Meeting.
The 45th Annual Meeting of the African Studies Association is December 5-8,
2002, at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, DC. African Studies
Program will support a van for a limited number of graduate students who

12 noon to 1:30 on Thursday, Sept 19, the Dane County Co-op Forum is
reconvening this month for a special session on "Co-op Development in
Africa". Speakers includes: Dr. Ann Hoyt, UW School of Human Ecology, Dr.
Kim Zeuli, UW Dept of Ag and Applied Economics and the UW Center for
Cooperatives, and EG Nadeau, Director of Development at Cooperative
Development Services. The luncheon discussion will take place in the board
room of the Wisconsin Federation of Cooperatives, 131 West Wilson Street,
Suite 400, in downtown Madison. All are welcome. Bring your own lunch, and
convenient parking is available in the basement of the building for

University of Natal-Durban Roots & Shoots Humanitarian and Environmental
Club is looking for financial assistance. The first university based Roots
& Shoots Club in KwaZulu- Natal, South Africa, which was initiated by a
Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar, has assembled students of all backgrounds and
is cultivating a stronger service ethic on the University of Natal-Durban
(UND) campus. Projects varying from township tours and clean-ups with
KwaMgaga High School students in Umlazi Township to socializing with
elderly residents of the Abalindi Welfare Society have been implemented to
