Howdy folks,

Sorry I have not been online lately. I am having such problems with my hands
that typing is getting to be a chore. I can't believe how hard it is, and
how much it hurts to type. Perhaps this gives me a better understanding of
the trouble with typing that some of you may have. Every time I turn around
though, it seems like I am losing more.

I would like to announce two new additions to my little animal kingdom
family. A while back, Nikki Bird -- a white-faced cockatiel -- came from the
animal shelter to live with me. Last week, I got an e-mail from an old
firefighting buddy who was looking for a home for his blue and gold macaw,
Bundy. As I am sure you have already guessed, Bundy is here now, and we are
getting to know each other.

This is the most time I've ever spent with a macaw. I am amazed by this
magnificent animal! He will take a peanut from my fingers gently and
carefully, with a beak that can break the hardest nuts in the world.

I just realized today that he looks at my crutches when I walk. I didn't
stop to think that he probably never saw a disabled person before. He hasn't
seen the wheelchair yet since I don't use it in the house. That introduction
is going to be interesting.

Gotta go -- can't type anymore.

See y'all
