I might recommend a decent used Data I/O model 212. It functions
stand-alone (PROM to PROM) or interfaces with a PC (RS-232 / com port) for
software reprogramming. Keep in mind not all BIOS chips are reprogrammable.
Also, I am not aware of any EPROM burners that do not also erase (i.e.
program a blank set). Some chips are erased by exposure to light (remove
the label). Save lots of money and buy a used device - if it fails you can
afford to buy another or replace the failed component. Make sure you get
the pin configurations you will need and the max ROM size capability.

I'm shopping for a EPROM PROGRAMMER and would like to know if someone could
help me to choose one. Here is what I need: I am often confronted with
dead mobo (due to bios) and would like to pull out the chip from the mobo,
put it in the programmer and reprogram it.<clip>
But do I also need a EPROM ERASER, and the like, or will a SIMPLE EPROM
PROGRAMMER do the trick? Which manufacturer has a good product?
