Dear All,
Several weeks ago I purchased a LiteOn CDRW (8X4X32X) and installed it as a master on Secondary IDE, and moved my CDROM(X40) as a slave to my HD, as per the LiteOn instructions that came with the CDRW.
All was well until I decided to rebuild the system, (not due to problems with CDROM or CDRW)
I fdisk, fdisk /mbr and reinstalled the Aptiva Software (Win 98 with all critical patches, also all required Aptiva patches)
Since them, my CD ROM has problems with Audio discs. With Windows Media Player 7 (WMP7), the sound is very poor - like an old LP. Also Adaptec Easy CD does not recognise Audio CD's in the CDROM (The green light on the CDROM stays on, with no other response). No problems with Data CD's
The CDRW does not have any of these issues.
Also, the CDRW does not have a sound cable connected to the mother board, only the CDROM does. However I can still hear my CD playing in the CDRW with WMP7.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Regards,
Joe Cardamone
