Kathleen,

It is possible to use the windows task scheduler to schedule a program to
run at a specified time.  This is assuming he is using Windows NT/2000 as a
server, and that all services he needs to have running will autostart on the
next reboot.

You can do a search for "rundll32 and shutdown" for information.  I can also
send you an executable I compiled that does the same. I actually use my
shutdown program to shut my system down at 11:00 every night.

If he is using a different OS, let us know.
