In translating dictionary the Deutsch for turnip is Rube (with umlaut).
To make this confusing, the vegetable that I always called turnip is called in U.S.A rutabaga, in Britain called a
"swede".
So years ago I abolished rutabagas as unnecessary, and recognize white turnips and yellow turnips. The white
turnips are never called rutabagas.
