the addictive nature of a food is not limited to the insuline response .I
don't know about corn but in wheat for exemple there is opioid like
molecules triggering or mimicking endophirns in  the brain .
Peoples are not addicted per se to substances ( drugs or foods ) but to
their own hormonal and chemicals messengers secreted in response to the
substance.
It is why peoples , who want to quit an addiction and  if they don't ask
spiritual help , end up just exchanging one addiction to an other.
So when we learn thru spiritual quest or at least thru emotionnal work to
rebalance our own hormonal balance we reach a point where substances, coming
from the outside are becoming useless and even disturbing.
Forcing oneself to quit a drug is not going to do anything really by it self
but is absolutely necessary to expose the crude reality of our chaotic
hormonal life  and deal with it in a more satisfying manner.
