Another thought on HRT. I (blindly) took estrogen for a number of
years...I
took myself off of it about 2 years ago when I found out that it is
produced
using urine from "pregnant" mares. The reason I put pregnant in
quotations
is the way these horses are treated. In order to have consistent
output that
meets FDA standards (I know...an oxymoron), these mares are kept in
stalls,
get minimal exercise, and are injected with hormones to simulate
pregnancy.
My source on this: my veterinarian. She had a hysterectomy and has
done a
great deal of research into how HRT is produced. She plans on going
for
alternative therapies. The treatment of the horses is what sent up a
red
flag to her! Maybe someone should sic PETA on the drug companies that
produce HRT!!
