        Thanks, but I am not the gospel and I am certainly not politically

Aussies use `mate'.  And I HATE that.  I always get it because people
can't seem to work out whether or not I'm male or female.  This
despite the fact that I very definitly have a feminine figure (I know
I'm asking for trouble mentioning that on the list!), I've even been
called `sir', several times, twice in my first semester at university
- and people told me I'd find a more intelligent group of people
there!  Aussies also use `cobber', `sheila', etc.  On reflection, I
think I'd rather be called `honey' or `sugar' <sheepish grin>
