2nd day at boarding school (aged 7), I went to the school surgery for
my medication. Matron said "Do you like malt", I though this must be
a kids name "Mort", and since I had liked everone I'd met so far, I
said yes. Upon which a huge spoonful of black treacley ooze got
stuffed in my mouth (as a treat!!). Gag reflex, explosive vomiting, I
believe this was the end of my "honeymoon period".
